Jeffrey Brownell, Senior Vice President, LEED- AP
Jeffrey (Jeff) S. Brownell is Senior Vice President of PFDA Architects, Inc. His main role with the firm is as Project Manager where he is responsible for major firm initiatives. His duties include the supervision of PFDA’s project production team and the organization and coordination of plan activities from pre-design to post construction.
Since joining PFDA in 1989, Mr. Brownell has been a significant contributor to retail renovation as well as new project development. With 20 years of architectural experience, Brownell is an integral part of many office and commercial plan processes. Much of his project management experience consists of overseeing assignments outside of Illinois, including California, Nevada, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
In addition to project management, Mr. Brownell participates in the planning, development and regulatory approval process of many PFDA projects. He has worked on assignments for the State of Illinois and is familiar with statutory, regulatory and procedural requirements of the Capital Development Board (CDB). He has also written programs with police representatives for the construction of a new law enforcement facility for Burbank, Illinois.
Mr. Brownell was the Project Architect on numerous private projects involving both new construction as well as remodeled buildings. Mr. Brownell worked on the renovation of the Duck Creek Plaza Shopping Center and Office Building in Bettendorf Iowa. This project included the demolition of and existing interior mall, the renovation of an existing 4-story office building and the new construction of approximately 250,000 SF of retail space. His role as Project Manager on this project included the coordination of the phased construction schedule to allow existing tenants to remain operational during the renovation and new construction which included the relocation of all of the existing utilities. Mr. Brownell was also Project Architect for the construction of a new Riverboat Casino Resort and Hotel project in southern Indiana. This project included the construction of temporary facilities along with an access building which allowed the client to open for use a full year prior to the completion of the permanent 135,000 SF Pavilion Building which included restaurants, 800 seat showroom with stage, banquette facilities with meeting rooms, and 200 hotel guest rooms.
Mr. Brownell attended Purdue University and received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1987 from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Mr. Brownell is a licensed architecture in the State of Illinois and Wisconsin and a LEED Accredited Professional. Mr. Brownell has been a member of the Association of Licensed Architects since 2002.
